The Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force was established in 2002 as a multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement agency comprised of the Sheriff’s Offices of Pickens Gilmer and Fannin County and the District Attorney’s Office for the Appalachian Judicial Circuit.  An Executive Control Board oversees financial and operational activities.  The board members include; Chairman, Sheriff Donnie Craig, District Attorney Joe Hendricks, Sheriff Stacy Nicholson, Sheriff Dane Kirby, and Ellijay Police Chief Larry Callahan.

Operational Objectives:

  1. actively pursue all levels of illegal drug activity
  2. collect, analyze, and disseminate intelligence from various sources
  3. coordinate investigative efforts with the Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments
  4. support local education through cooperation with school systems and civic organizations
The task force conducts plain clothes operations and carries out long term drug investigations. These investigations generally start from citizen complaints. We rely on citizen input to initiate investigations.
